The journey of a thousand miles begins in Chongqing

Chongqing is the only municipal city in western China. It is not only known for its river and fog, but also for its mountain city. It is located in the southwestern part of China, adjacent to Hubei and Hunan in the east, Guizhou in the south, Sichuan in the west, and Shaanxi in the north. It is known as China's hot pot capital, China's famous exhibition city, and the world's hot spring capital.

I remember that day was drizzling. My friends and I had some special hot and sour noodle and then set off. With navigation, we went to Hongyadong stilted house complex as our first destination.

Coming down from the bridge, we passed by many hot pot places. The smell of spice was just so tempting.

Hongyadong stilted house complex has been rated as a National AAAA-level Tourist Scenic Spot for its Ba and Yu traditional architecture and folk customs. Hongyadong is divided into 11 floors, each floor has its own specialty. There are exotic cuisine, Bashu cuisine, local delicacies...

Hongyadong

Looking at the photos, it looks magnificent. It’s said that the scene resemble the background in the Japanese animation called Spirited Away. Well, now let’s find out together the best angles to take pictures of it:

1. The road by the river: most people will take pictures here. It might be a little crowded, but doesn’t stop us taking nice snaps.

2. On the Qiansimen Bridge: From the 11th floor of the Hongyadong elevator, you can see the entrance of the Qiansimen Bridge. Go down the spiral staircase, stand on the bridge and enjoy the scenery of Hongyadong.

3. Take the subway and get off at the Grand Theater Station, overlooking Hongyadong across the river, you will have a panoramic view of Hongyadong. We did not try this route but it’s recommended by my local friends.

Ciqikou Old Town

New day, new mood. Love the clear and blue sky.

I would say it’s definitely one of the must-go places for a first timer to Chongqing.This old town is not only a national AAAA-level scenic spot, but also one of the "12 New Ba and Yu Scenic Spots".

There is a Chinese poem saying about it - thousands of people arching their hands in the daytime and thousands of lights after night. It is the land of prosperity. Ciqikou is located on the Jialing River in Shapingba District. It was built in the Song Dynasty and has a unique landform of "one river, two streams, three mountains and four streets".

Ciqikou contains cultures of different ethnic regions. "A stone road, a thousand-year-old Ciqikou" is the epitome and symbol of Chongqing's ancient city, and is praised as "Little Chongqing".

Nostalgia in the air, the old street always bring me inner peace and happiness.

Yangtze River Cableway

The early morning is drizzling again, like transparent silver needles, falling from the sky, decorating the mountains and infiltrating the green fields. On the last day in Chongqing, we got up early to take the Yangtze River cableway. In fact, long time ago, there were two cable-ways in Chongqing, and the first Jialing River ropeway has been demolished. Therefore, this second Yangtze River ropeway has been in operation for 30 years and is known as the "Mountain City Airbus".

The Yangtze River Cableway is a large cross-river passenger cableway designed and manufactured by China itself. With a total length of 1,166 meters, it connects Chongqing to Yuzhong District and Nan'an District, which is exactly opposite to the Xiaoshizi Station on the rail transit and Shangxinjie Station on the south bank.

When you take the Yangtze River cableway to cross the Dajiang River and enjoy the famous night view of Chongqing in the air, it is a fresh experience.

Chongqing is originally a mountain city. The residents themselves rebuilt it to all kinds of residential houses by mountains. You will be surprised by their wisdom wonderful architectural excelling nature.
