Recap | 2-Day Buddhist Experience in Futuo Temple

DAY 1

After an hour and a half bus ride from downtown Hangzhou, we arrived at the foot of Futuo temple, where the rape flowers were blooming beautifully and the temple buildings were solemn and full of the historical weight. After about ten minutes' walk, we arrived at the temple dining area, settled our luggage and began our vegetarian lunch~

After the lunch break, we changed into Buddhist disciple's clothes and followed the Monk and the English-speaking guide to learn the history and stories of the temple. We not only learned a lot of impressive Buddhist knowledge but also how to burn incense and pray.

After dinner, we learned Chinese Buddhist meditation methods to find inner peace in soothing music. Then, we learned calligraphy and sutra copying under the guidance of a Master. It is said that sutra copying can bring good luck to us.

The stars twinkling above the mountains, the bamboos dancing in the wind, these are all things that can't be captured by the camera.

DAY 2

We got up at half-past five. The air in the mountains was very fresh. Monks were cleaning the ground in front of the ancient 1000-year-old temple, which was part of their practice. At six o'clock we had an early morning class with the monks in the temple, and then we had breakfast with them.
